Idumota Market May Go Into Extinction

The popular Idumota film market dominated by Yoruba film producers and marketers may go soon go into extinction soon.

Investigations revealed that the hitherto bubbling market is now a shadow of itself as the marketers and film producers now produce below average.

Some of the marketers, who spoke with P.M.News, attributed the lull in production to the activities of the film pirates who are making the business unfavourable for the marketers.
P.M.News learned that the activities of the pirates have assumed a greater dimension as they now dub about five to 10 films in one digital video Compact Disc or DVD and sell them, and this has been draining the purse of the film producers.
Segun Alawaye of Alawaye Ventures and a one time chairman of Yoruba film marketers, told P.M.News that the marketers are not in good mood. “All I can tell you is that marketers are not laughing at all; the Alaba people are killing us.”
The outgoing chairman of the Yoruba film marketers ,Femi Odunuga, told P.M.News that things are not as rosy as they used to be. “We may be forced out of market if things continue this way,” he said.
The marketers are said to be meeting almost daily to find solution to the problem.
