Dr Akinwunmi Adeshina, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, says Nigeria is set to partner with Thai Tapioca Development Institute on cassava production and marketing.
The minister spoke at a meeting held in Abuja with a team of cassava experts from Thailand. He said that the ministry was ready to ensure that adequate steps were taken for Nigerian farmers to have access to varieties of cassava.
This, he said, would create an increased demand for cassava and helped stabilize price of agricultural produce for farmers.
According to him, the partnership between Nigeria and Thailand would bring about optimum utilisation of cassava adding that “Nigeria should prepare to play in the sector where it is the largest producer to be the largest exporter”.
The Thai team was led by the Vice-President of the TTDI, Mr. Adul Vinaiphat.
