THE national secretariat of the Accord Party (AP) has accused the former governor of Oyo State and its governorship standard-bearer in the April 2011 election, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, of trading the party in Oyo State for his own personal interests.
Consequently, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party announced his expulsion from the party with immediate effect.
This resolution was contained in a press statement, entitled “Ladoja and Accord Party,’’ signed by the national chairman of the party, Dr Isaac Adeniyi; national secretary, Dr Samson Isibor and the chairman, Board of Trustees, Chief Augustine Mazie and made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the leadership of the Accord Party was embarrassed watching the anti-party activities of the former governor since he was defeated by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate in 2011.
The party, which said it wielded the big stick on Ladoja as part of its efforts to fast-track the development and mobilisation of new members throughout the six geopolitical zones in the country, also accused the former governor of using the party to negotiate for his personal aggrandisement with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the ACN, using questionable authority to compel members of the party to collapse into another party.
Reacting, Senator Ladoja said there was nothing like that, except in the imagination of those behind the report.
He urged the media to ignore it as a rumour and antics of authors of mischief, asking when the meeting where the claimed expulsion was held.
