OBJ in Ibadan today, to meet Ladoja

INDICATIONS are strong that former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, may be in Ibadan today, in continuation of the reconciliation process within the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

An informed party source who disclosed this to the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, added that Obasanjo is also scheduled to meet with a former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

The source said that the former president was particularly interested in the true reconciliation of all factions within the party in the state, given the importance of Oyo State to South-West politics.

"Though it was not announced formally, there are strong indications that Baba will be here in Ibadan tomorrow (Monday).

"Like every other stakeholder, the former president is genuinely interested in ensuring peace and total reconciliation within Oyo PDP.

"More importantly, he is scheduled to meet with Senator Rashidi Ladoja. The door of the party is still open to the former governor, but they will meet to sort out all grey areas in the reconciliation process," the said.

When contacted, a former local government caretaker chairman in the state, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, said that though he was not aware of Obasanjo's visit, it was a welcome development.

Olaosebikan, who served as council boss during the Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala administration, said, "All our leaders and key stakeholders want Senator Ladoja back in PDP.

"What had been happening, expected though, was just politicking. I am sure that Senator Ladoja will be fully back in PDP soonest. Members of the two parties, PDP and Accord, are happy and excited about it.

“We are excited because it is in the best interest of Oyo State. It is a guarantee of the liberation of our people from the shackles of the visionless, confused and anti-people government of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).”
