The origin of a text message purportedly sent by the late  Apagun of Egbaland,Chief Oluwole Olumide, shortly before his controversial death penultimate Friday night in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, is one of the issues being   investigated by the Police to unravel the true cause of his death.
The body of the successful architect and businessman was pulled out of the artificial lake, named Toria, at his Golf Club resort in the town last Saturday, some 10 hours after he went missing. It is widely believed that he committed suicide by plunging into the lake, although there are also suggestions that he may have been murdered and his body then thrown into the lake.
The content of the text message was not immediately known.
Also being scrutinised by the Police is the call log of the phone calls made by the deceased in his last days to enable them get a clue.
There are fears that some people may have hacked into his line to send the messages to divert attention from the real cause of his death
“Everything will be investigated. It is going to be scientific investigation,” Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), said.
Adejobi  said the report of the autopsy on the corpse is not yet out.
The autopsy  was conducted at  the  Neuro – Psychiatric Hospital, Aro – Abeokuta  last Monday  after a long  argument between the Ogun State government and Olumide’s family.
Business at the resort has been low since the incident.
Golf Resort was designed as a relaxation spot for fun seekers in the ancient town and the golf course for lovers of the game.
The natural beauty, the serene environment and the rugged terrain coupled with the cold breeze and constant chipping of birds easily attract golfers and fun seekers.
In the last few days since Olumide’s death, the resort seems to have lost its  pull effect on patrons.
At the Okada riders stand ,a short distance from the resort, one of the commercial motorcyclists who identified himself as Abbey, said human traffic to the area has declined lately principally on account of the circumstances  of  Apagun’s death.
One of his sons, Seyi , has  dismissed the suicide theory, saying his loving father had no reason to take his life.
