•Ehiosun, Lawal, three others picked
SUPER
EAGLES boss, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has made good his intention of
using a sprinkle of foreign-based players for the May 23 international
friendly against the Peruvian national team, by naming only five
foreign-based stars for the friendly.
The
gaffer ignored Nigeria’s ‘more established’ foreign-based national team
members such as West Bromwich Albion’s Osaze Odemwingie, Chelsea’s John
Obi Mikel, Blackburn Rovers’ Yakubu Aiyegbeni and even captain Joseph
Yobo.
Those
named by Keshi are Turkey-based striker, Ekigho Ehiosun, Gege Soriola
who plays in the South African league, for Free State Stars, former U23
national team skipper, Nwankwo Obiorah of Parma in Italy, Nnamdi
Oduamadi of Torino FC and much talked about Raheem Lawal of Spanish
side, Atletico Belaeres .
The
players are expected to report to the national team’s training camp
which opened on Sunday, May 6 in Abuja even as Keshi has reiterated that
the home-based team will be unveiled in due course.
