Campus murder: Police arrest two students

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two students for allegedly killing a final year student at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
A 400 level student at the Faculty of Education in EKSU, Sola Falade, was hacked to death last Thursday when two rival cult groups unleashed terror on the students in hostels outside the university campus.
Apart from Falade, who had a deep cut on his forehead other students were said to have been injured in the violence which erupted at about mid-night.
The situation was brought under control when armed policemen intervened.
In a related development, some students of the school on Friday embarked on a protest and vandalised some of the school’s property.
The irate students were said to have been prevented from writing the first semester examinations for not paying their fees.
But the Public Relations Officer of EKSU, Mr. Olubunmi Ajibade, told our correspondent on the telephone that there was not demonstration in the school.
He, however, explained that part-time students of the university were about to write their examination on Friday but many of them had not paid their fees and instead forged clearance certificates to write the exams.
“On detecting this, the Vice Chancelor, Prof. Oladipo Aina, announced that the examinations be rescheduled to enable the university detect those students who engaged in the crime.”
He said any student found to be unruly would be handed over to law enforcement agents.
