A
former deputy governor of Edo State, Rev. Peter Obadan, has resigned
his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Obadan, in a resignation letter addressed to State Chairman of the PDP,
Chief Dan Orbih, said the party has been privatized and commercialized
in the state.
The
former deputy governor said he joined the PDP trusting it to provide
enabling platform for service and realization of hopes and aspiration of
Edo people.
He
said, “When I resolved with other National Democratic Coalition
(NADECO) leaders in exile to wrestle power from the Abacha- led junta
and ensure democratization of our beloved country, I had dreams for my
state and in particular vision for Edo North.”
“After
a critical assessment of our irreconcilable differences and the travail
of Edo PDP orchestrated by the acts of some demagogues, culminating in
the senseless campaign of calumny capable of igniting anarchy and
bloodshed, it has become expedient and wise that I along with these
leaders of conscience resign from the party,” the letter reads.
