African Footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure has signed on two Nigerian
sports consultants, Anthony Zulu Olayinka and Jelili Oladimeji to help
in laundering his image in the country.Toure hopes that the partnership with the duo will afford many corporate organisations the opportunity to promote their brands through him while also using his status as the best footballer in Africa to encourage those at the grassroots that they can indeed reach the pinnacle of their careers in the round-leather-game.
The Manchester City midfielder, who confirmed the news to NationSport exclusively on phone, also hinted at plans to extend his foundation to Nigeria in order to give back to the society.
According to Toure, the foundation will reach out to the less -privileged in the society while grassroots football matches will be organised yearly for the growth of the game.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire ace, the newly appointed representatives in Nigeria Olayinka and Oladimeji stated that Toure is open to the Nigerian market for endorsements, being the current African best player.
The duo also revealed that a testimonial match to bring Toure closer to the Nigerian market has been earmarked for December.
Yaya is the current CAF best player of the year and Africa's best player in the Barclays English Premier League, where he has since scored a number of key goals for the Citizens, most notably in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final and Final. Touré has a distinguished international career with 67 caps for Côte d'Ivoire, representing the team in their first appearance in a FIFA World Cup, in the 2006 competition and in 2010. He is the younger brother of his Côte d'Ivoire and Manchester City teammate Kolo Touré.
