Kogi rerun election: PDP candidate wins

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Honourable Gabriel Daudu, has been declared winner of the state assembly rerun election for Ogori/Magongo Constituency.
The election was conducted on Wednesday, under heavy security with a large turnout of voters.
Daudu, who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), pulled a total of 311 votes to beat the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr Babson Abiodun, who scored one vote to come second, leaving a total of two invalid votes.
A total of 314 people were accredited for the election which commenced at about 8.30 a.m with adequate materials and personnel.
Declaring the results the local government returning officer, Mr Yusuf Sadiku, who described the election as peaceful, transparent, fair and credible, said PDP now had a total of 2,942 while LP scored 2,809 to come second.
He said Honourable Daudu had pulled the highest of lawful votes cast and was returned elected.
Speaking with newsmen, the winner, Honourable Daudu described his victory as an act of God and promised to work for the overall interest of the entire LGA.
He said, as the representative of the people, he would quickly settle down to make laws that would bring accelerated development to his constituency.
