Subsidy probe’ll produce results — Rep

Representive of Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Mr. Olumide Osoba, on Tuesday said the reports of the recent House of Representatives’ probe into the payments under the subsidy regime would not be swept under the carpet.
Osoba, who made this known after he donated a 500 KVA transformer to Ikereku-idan in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, assured that the report of the committee would be made public soon.
He said, “We have done our part of the job (probe) it is up to the law enforcement agents to do theirs when we submit the report. We are very committed to sanitising the system.
“It is, and will never be business as usual, you will all see that very soon.”
Meanwhile, a United States-based activist, Mr. Smart Ajaja, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to make use of “seasoned forensic accountants, fraud examiners and psychologists” to ensure a thorough investigation of the scam in the oil sector.
He also suggested that the commission should not restrict its probe to the oil cabal alone.
Among those that should be investigated, according to Ajaja, are past Heads of State, former Ministers of Petroleum Resources, past Permanent Secretaries in the Ministry and former Directors-General in the Ministry.
Others are key officials and staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Petroleum Resources Ministry.
