Mercy Chinwo emerges Nigerian Idol winner

MERCY Chinwo (or Mecinda as she is fondly called), defeated co-contestant, Joe Blue, to emerge winner of the 2012 edition of Nigerian Idol, after the acts rendered three songs and were heavily applauded by the audience on Saturday, Week after week, the petite and talented songstress blew away the minds of viewers and judges.
The show kicked off when Hosts Ill Ryhmz and Tiwa Savage called the 12 finalists to render the National Anthem, which was followed by a performance from Wizkid, W4 and Chuddy K.
Though the show was aired on Sunday, the young Mercy had emerged the winner of the 2012 edition of Nigerian Idol on Saturday, after over five months of tough drillings, star performances, surprise evictions and grueling rehearsals.
Judges Yinka Davies, Jeffery Daniels and Charly Boy were impressed as Mercy displayed an outstanding performance.
The show was recorded on Saturday at the Idols Studio in Lagos.
Winning the second edition of Nigerian Idol, Mercy walks away with the top prize of a recording contract, an SUV and a cash prize of $100,000 (N15 million).
Fans and supporters, after the announcement of Mercy as winner on Saturday, said they were not shocked by the victory, as it was a deserving victory.
