Residents of foko, Kudeti, Oke Itunu, Igan, Lanlate, Nalende and Opo-Yeosa in Ibadan have commended the representative of Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, for providing potable water for the communities.
The communities gave the commendation during the inauguration of seven solar powered boreholes by Lanlehin on Wednesday.
A community member, Mrs. Laolu Ayoade, noted that the water project would go a long way in addressing the challenge of clean water in the area.
She said, “We are happy today and we thank our Senator. We want other political office holders to follow this example by redeeming their promises.”
The Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, Ibadan East Local Government, Mr. A. Arowolo, who described the initiative as life saving, said the people would start to enjoy a new lease of life through the initiative.
Arowolo said, “As a result of this laudable initiative, the people of Kudeti, Foko, Oke Itunu, Igangan, Lanlate, Nalende and Opo Yeosa will have access to clean water in their localities. This will boost the health of the long-suffering masses of our state.”
He said it was necessary that the masses, who form the bulk of the society, to enjoy quality life.
Lanlehin explained that he embarked on the project in keeping with his electoral promises to the people.
The senator said, “Considering the level of infrastructural deficit in our communities, the task of providing welfare services should not be left in the hands of the executive alone. We should all come around to give back to the society that nurtured us to this level.
“Again, those of us in leadership positions should not hesitate to take responsibility and demonstrate that we appreciate the plight of our people. There is nothing that we can gain from closing our eyes to the poor.”
