Arapa tackles Nubia on stage

ARAPA
Those who think Kabirat Fafidipe, otherwise called Araparegangan, can only interpret roles need to hear her sing on Sunday at a poetry concert organised by folk singer, Segun Akinlolu (Beautiful Nubia).
At the event held at Eniobanke Arts Centre, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, the burly light-skinned actress impressed many with her velvety voice when she shared the stage alongside dreadlock-spotting Nubia.
As the musician launched into the popular track, Seven Lives, Arapa beautifully replaced the verse ‘I am an African Boy’ with ‘ I am an African Girl.’’ The ease and dynamism with which she rendered that part earned her applause from the excited audience present at the concert tagged Music and Poetry Jam Poetry with Beautiful Nubia and Friends.
She thereafter took a bow and left the stage but not without bubbling with smiles.
The event, which fans defied the rains to attend, featured poetry performances by Ladi Soyode, Iquo Eke, among others.
Of course, Arapa, who came into limelight when she acted in Tunde Kelani’s film, Saworoide, had tried to assert her musical talent when she jointly produced an Islamic album with her sister, Ayisat. She says plans are on to shoot the video of some of the tracks in the album, while the siblings also have a date in the studio for the recording of Ayisat’s new songs.
