2015: Northern activist warns South-West

Northern civil rights activist, Mallam Shehu Sani, on Saturday in Kaduna cautioned the South West geo-political zone against plot by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to use religion to destabilise the zone ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Sani noted that the current harassment, intimidation targeted at the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was part of the scheme by the ruling party to use religious sentiments to divide the South -West so as to score a political goal .
He , however, warned that any harm done to the governor would spell doom for the ruling party, pointing out that “Governor Rauf’s independent — mindedness, consistency and principle intimidate the PDP at the state, zonal and national levels.”
He said that rather than facing the current insecurity challenges in Nigeria, the ruling party was busy manipulating religion in other parts of the country, especially in the South- West for its political gains, adding that the mischievous and false propaganda against the governor was a war aimed at destroying the progressive forces in Nigeria.
The civil rights activist who is also the president of the Civil Rights Congress stressed that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party was simply desperate to silence the governor by whipping up religious sentiment.
“The PDP is simply desperate to silence him and others by whipping up religious sentiment and sowing religious divide in the South- West in order to achieve a political goal.
“PDP’s style of opposition is dirty, crude, deprave, nihilist, anarchist, fatal, thuggish, and primitive.”
