JAMB set to commence 2012/2013 admissions

THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will, next month, commence admission of successful candidates into various tertiary institutions in the country, for the 2012/2013 academic session.
JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde, who made this known in Abuja, said relevant stakeholders in the system were currently being mobilised for a policy meeting scheduled for May 21 in Abuja, where a harmonised cut-off point that would kick start admission process for 2012/2013 would emerge.
Professor Ojerinde said this when he received a four-man delegation from the Nigerian Turkish Nile University, led by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Bunyamin Kaptanoglu.
The registrar commended the efforts of the Nigerian Turkish Nile University for the quality of training offered Nigerians, saying it was a marvellous contribution to educational development in the country.
He, however, bemoaned the instability in Nigeria’s tertiary education system, adding that some universities were characterised by restiveness, unstable and disrupted school calendar.
