Gov poll: Edo PDP faults reports on Oshiomhole’s ‘endorsement’ • As ACN women leaders vow to return Oshiomhole

Director-General of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Campaign, Senator Odion Ugbesia, has said it is not true, as reported in some quarters, that the Benin traditional ruler, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa, has endorsed the incumbent governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for a second term in office.
Ugbesia, a senator representing Edo Central at the National Assembly, who assumed duty as the Edo PDP governorship campaign chief on Tuesday, told journalists in Benin City that the recent purported endorsement was the creation of a section of the media, saying the reverred Oba of Benin could not have endorsed Oshiomhole, as the ruler was a father to all Edo people.
“Unfortunately, the endorsement was a creation of the media, the reverred Oba of Benin didn’t, at any time, say that he had endorsed Oshiomhole as the gubernatorial candidate.”
Meanwhile, women leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Edo State have said they will not allow the state to return to what they described as “retrogressive age.”
The women said Oshiomhole was the present-day messiah of Edo State, who must be returned to office as the governor to complete the good works he had started.
The women spoke at a one-day leadership programme organised for the state ACN women leaders, on Tuesday, in Benin City.
The Edo State woman leader of ACN, Mrs Modina Emovon said Oshiomhole took over a “dead Edo State” at a time when women in the state were still relegated.
