Pastor commits suicide in Ogun

FOR nursing a wound for long without healing, a middle-aged man, identified as Pastor John Ibikunle, committed suicide by hanging in Owode Yewa, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident, the Nigerian Tribune gathered, happened penultimate Wednesday, when the late Ibikunle hung himself in one of the rooms at Alagbon area of Owode Yewa.

The late pastor, it was learnt, had been nursing the wound for several months without healing due to his diabetic nature.

The late Ibikunle, before the incident, was said to have asked his wife to represent him at a Parents Teaching Association (PTA) meeting of one of his children.

The late pastor was said to have made a noose round his neck and tied it to a ceiling fan in one of the rooms.

One of the neighbours to the late pastor who spoke on condition of anonymity described the deceased as jovial and humble.

The corpse of the late pastor was said to be found dangling at the time his wife returned from the PTA meeting.

A source at the Divisional Police Headquarters at Owode confirmed the incident.

The source said the matter had been transferred to the homicide section of the state police headquarters at Eleweran-Abeokuta.
