overnor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday afternoon, visited former governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, in his Ibadan residence. The governor was accompanied on the visit by his Chief of Staff, Dr Adeolu Akande, his Special Adviser (Political), Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle and some other special advisers.
Shortly after arrival, Governor Ajimobi went into a closed-door meeting with Ladoja.
His visit came five days after his brother governor from Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, also visited the former governor and national leader of the Accord Party in his residence.
Though the detail of their meeting was not immediately clear to the Nigerian Tribune, it was, however, learnt that Governor Ajimobi might have persuaded Ladoja not to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but join his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
Another source said the visit was in connection with the stability of the state House of Assembly.
Chief Alao-Akala, later in the day also visited the Bodija residence of Senator Ladoja, in company of some of his aides.
Alao-Akala’s spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade confirmed his boss’s visit to Ladoja, saying it was “in furtherance of Ladoja’s decision to come into the PDP which he has already done.”
Meanwhile, executive members of the Accord Party in the South-West geopolitical zone, on Thursday, begged Senator Ladoja to resist pressure from the PDP and the ACN.
Rising from a meeting with Ladoja in his Ibadan residence, the South-West leaders urged the former governor to remain in the Accord Party which he helped to build rather than join either the ACN or the PDP.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the party leaders resolved that all chieftains and members of the party should work harmoniously and intensify membership drive to reposition the party ahead of the 2015 general election.
The four-point communiqué was signed by the National Vice-Chairman (South-West) of the party, Chief Kayode Ojo; Alhaji Bashiru Lawal (Oyo State chairman); Alhaji Kasimawo Alli (Ogun State chairman); Honourable Bolaji Olugnoji (Lagos State); Honourable Rufai Omo-Aje (Lagos secretary); and Ms Titi Dina, Vice-Chairman, Lagos State.
The leaders also affirmed the leadership of Alhaji Mohammed Nalado as the national chairman of the party and Ladoja as a national leader, while calling for amicable resolution of all internal crises within the party to stand it in good stead for future elections.
